Coming up on the Pickin' Porch
Show... |
| |
January 8
|
Rock Hill Bluegrass Band |
The Pickin' Porch Show is a weekly two hour Bluegrass
and Old-Time music show hosted by "Your Bluegrass Buddy"
Tim White.
These wonderful performances feature the very best singers,
musicians and groups to be found anywhere, and most of them hail
from right here in the Birthplace of Country Music region! The mission of the
Pickin'
Porch is to honor the region's deep musical roots and to promote
Bluegrass and Old-Time music here and around the world.
We invite you to join us every Thursday night at 7:00 PM. All
Pickin' Porch shows are performed live at the Comfort Systems USA Performance Center in the Bristol Mall. Admission is free, but an
optional donation of $4 per person is greatly appreciated.
If you're unable to enjoy one of our shows in person, you can
always catch it on one of the fine
cable
television channels throughout the Birthplace of Country Music
region that broadcast it each week!

Highlights
from the last Pickin' Porch Show |
Note: Today's photos courtesy of Chris Rector.
Tim White kicked off tonight's show by telling the
audience about the up-coming
Song Of The Mountains show at the Lincoln Theatre in
Marion, Virginia. After leading everyone in the "Pledge
To The Flag", Tim introduced the first act of the
evening. |

| Art Lang & Cathy Ciolac of Roan Mountain,
Tennessee treated the crowd to several old time tunes like
"Sandy River Bell" and "Shenandoah Falls". Art
Lang played guitar, Banjo and fiddle. |

| Cathy played dulcimer and autoharp. |

| Next to take the Pickin' Porch stage were
The VW Boys.
Dave Vaught played the guitar and was featured on the
tune "Ballad Of Ralph Stanley". Dave owns
Top Hat Magic Supply on 6th Street in Bristol,
Tennessee. |

| Larry McPeak, from Wytheville, Virginia played
bass and sang his self-penned songs "God's Christmas
Gift" and "Poor Boys Christmas". |

| Mr. Isaacs was an honorary VW Boy tonight, and he
played fiddle and harmonica. Don was featured on the songs
"Fireball Mail" and "Home Sweet Home". |

That's it for this week's Pickin' Porch Show. The
"porch" will remain dark for the next two Thursdays so that
our bands and volunteers may spend this holiday time with
their families. We wish everyone a "Merry Christmas" and
"Happy New Year". Plan to drop in on January 8, 2009 as we
start the new year with the Rock Hill Bluegrass Band.
