Pickin' Porch July 30, 2009 Tim White began tonight's program by the leading everyone in the pledge to the flag.
![]() Ronnie Williams of Spotsylvania, Virginia played guitar, autoharp
and accordion. He was featured on several numbers including the Carter
Family favorite "Jimmy Brown, the Newsboy".
![]() Lorrie Carter Bennett, daughter of Anita Carter sang several songs
including "I'll be all smiles tonight". Lorrie is from Nashville,
Tennessee.
![]() Kathy Louvin of Goodlettesville, Tennessee played autoharp and
sang such tunes as "Send me the pillow that you dream on" made famous
by Hank Locklin. Kathy is the daughter of Ira Louvin.
![]() Teddy Helton of Bristol, Virginia played bass. You can usually find Teddy playing with the Celtic band Fire in the kitchen www.fire-in-the-kitchen.com.
Rita Forrester grand-daughter of A.P. and Sara Carter joined in
fun and sang along to the Carter Family tunes. Rita is the director of
the Carter Family Memorial Music Center in Hiltons, Virginia www.carterfamilyfold.org.
Danny Szauter of Canada helped out on guitar and also treated the
crowd to a self-penned tune about Joe Carter entitled "Persimmon
Guitar".
![]() Ingrid Szauter (Danny's Mom) joined her son on the number "Sweet Fern".
![]() Billy Louvin of Franklin, Tennessee played guitar and helped out
his mother (Kathy) and Lorrie Carter Bennett on the tune "When I stop
dreaming, that's when I'll stop loving you" written by the Louvin
Brothers.
![]() Lonesome Will Mullins dropped by the Pickin Porch and treated the
audience to several songs including the Carter Family number "Foggy
Mountain Top".
